Never meet your hero!

'Never meet your hero'. This is a saying according to the world.

It is known that sometimes we can build high expectations of someone because of what we have heard, read or seen about them. The singer with the full, long hair (but there extensions), the smiley comedian (but he's depressed), the band that are the best of friends (but they break up next month) etc etc.

I recently saw a TV interview with an actress. She was in a soap when I was in my teens and I used to arrive home from school and watch this show. I found out from this interview that whilst she was filming all these great, entertaining episodes for the last series, that she was battling a serious alcohol addiction. I could not believe it!

I am not saying that because people are in the 'spotlight' that they need to be perfect (and for the record I have nothing against hair extensions). But the problem is we expect so much from people and when we find out the truth about them, we are more often than not disappointed.

I have come to know and believe that there is only one Hero that will never disappoint us. He is a loving Gentlemen and at the same time a Mighty Warrior.

Personally, meeting my Hero was the best thing that happened to me.

You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand has held me up, Your gentleness has made me great. (Psalm 18:35)

Can you truly depend on YOUR hero?
